The "R" is not a really narrow font but actually a shaved upstroke of the letter

horizontal imperforate
There is some discussion as to whether these are true postal varieties or merely proofs. The 2½d horizontal imperforate pair from Niue was provided courtesy of Paul den Ouden of Powell River, British Columbia. The block of four exhibits the Narrow 'E' in the first E of George and was kindly provided by Akis Kristou from Cyprus

vertical imperforate
Only one sheet is known with a vertical imperforate. It occurs in column 1. Thus a maximum of 10 stamps are possible with this variety. This example was kindly provided by Akis Christou from Cyprus and comes from Row 8. It shows the shaved 'R' in George in column 3 (Row 8 is the only row that has a normal 'N' or 'R' in column 1 when there is a shaved 'R' in column 3).
