South Africa
The Union of South Africa stamps are bilingual and alternate in the inscription of the English and Afrikaans at the top of the stamp. The Afrikaans inscription is at the top in Row 1 Column 1 of the ½d, 3d and 6d stamps. The same head plate (which provided the King's head and the inscriptions SILVER JUBILEE, SILWER JUBILEUM, GvR, 1910 and 1935) was used for all four values resulting in a constant rearrangement of the plate. As a result multiple minor varieties as well as a number of constant flaws are known to exist. The value tablets of the ½d and 1d stamps included the words 'revenue' ('inkomste' in Afrikaans) indicating that these stamps were used as revenue stamps as well. A rotogravure printing process was used by the Union Government Printing Works. The sheet layout consisted of 20 rows by 6 columns.

This subsection is separated into well known constant flaws (common Flaws), minor/non-constant flaws (Headplate and Frameplate flaws) and a section analyzing certain flaws in detail (Special flaws).
