Southern Rhodesia
At the time of the Silver Jubilee, Southern Rhodesia was a self-governing colony. It was permitted to develop its own unique stamp design. The portrait, taken from a photograph by Vandyk, is that of King George V as Colonel-in-Chief of the Black Watch adjacent to a view of the Victoria Falls. The animals are representations of a giraffe, an elephant, a lion and (to the right of the portrait) a sable antelope. Waterlow and Sons were the printers. Of interest is that the stamps have no watermark.
The Specimen stamps were of a different colour.
