Double Airmail rate Seychelles to Scotland
The Seychelles are an archipelago of 115 islands located north-east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean (see map). It was ceded to Great Britain by France in 1814 at the Treaty of Paris. It became independent in 1976. In 1935 it had a population of approximately 28,000.

Jubilee stamps: 6c, 12c, 20c, 1r.

In 1935 the airmail cover rate from the Seychelles to Scotland was 12c Empire rate plus 45c Airmail per 10 grammes. The below cover is a double rate airmail cover. It is the only one recorded with the 1r correctly commercially used.
