1892	Becomes heir apparent to the British throne after the death of his older brother.

1910 1911	Ascends to throne   - May 6 Crowned king           - June 22
1917	Changes family name  from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor (due to anti-German sentiment during World War I)
1935	Celebrates Silver Jubilee of accession to throne
1936	Dies of bronchitis at age 70
