Studies suggest that perfin die use began on Straits Settlements stamps in 1870 and peaked in the early 1900s. At the time of the Silver Jubilee at least three machines were in use.
Seventeen different dies have been identified to date on Silver Jubilee stamps. The table lists the companies and the distribution of the perfins.
