Colour Trials - Common Design
Initial submission of Colour Trials 
On November 2, 1934 the Crown Agents sent copies of 7colour trials to the Colonial Office. Four days later these were forwarded to King George's Private Secretary. On November 8th the trials were returned to the Colonial Office with a note stating that King had indicated his approval of three of the colour combinations and asking for more to choose from. This information was conveyed to the Crown Agents (responsible for overseeing the design and colour of the issue) on November 10.

Submission of second lot of Colour Trials 
On November 16, 1934 the Crown Agents submitted 8 more colour combinations for the Common Design to the Colonial Office. These were forwarded to the Palace on November 19. King George approved four more colour combinations (see cross marks) the next day.
