Plates 2A and 2B are found in two forms. In the first, the more common, the vignette plate number is in the usual position under the 5th stamp in row 10. Plate (2A) and (2B) letters are slightly smaller and appear further below the perforation line. They are also known as abnormal plate 2A or 2B and when described are enclosed in brackets. Some people believe these to be reconstructed plates. However, the varieties are specific to these vignette plates and are not found on other plates.
Most of the information on Plate (2B) comes from work undertaken by David Gillis of New Hampshire. All the images have been provided by David.
