Both classification systems listed below relate to the Common Design stamps.
a) SJSC-W: The first part is the location identifier adopted by the King George Silver Jubilee Study Circle used for identifying the plate, row and column of the variety. The location identifier is followed by a number which was developed by Wallace in 1936 and listed each stamp alphabetically by country/colony and ascending face value. Below is the SJSC-W classification. The subsequent pages (Wallace A-F etc) provide the numbering system originally used by Wallace and
includes all 250 stamps in the Silver Jubilee series.
b) Gibbons: Stanley Gibbons has listed only selected identified flaws and variations.

SJSC-W Classification System

 The classification has four sections
   XXX-
X/X-
XXXX
(XX)
section no:
  1
2
3
4

Section 1:  This section identifies the name of the printer and type of variety
The first letter is the printer. B=Bradbury Wilkinson; R=De la Rue; W =Waterlow
The second letter indicates whether it is a Vignette (v) or Frame (f) variety and is followed by a dash
The subsequent numbers and letters indicate the Vignette number
Section 2: This identifies the Row (R) and Column (C) of the variety. They are separated by a "/"
If the row or column cannot be identified it is marked by "00"
Section 3: This is the stamp number according to Wallace. e.g.: Antigua 1d = J001; Virgin Islands 1d =J249
Section 4: This is the number of a new variation which cannot be correctly located and is enclosed in brackets.
